Honoring the Life of Zekevian "Zeke" James: Turning Tragedy Into Purpose

On July 1, 2026, my son, Zekevian "Zeke" James, tragically lost his life in a senseless act of gun violence in Webster County, Georgia. He was one of two young lives taken that day in a double homicide. Two families were forever changed, and two communities were left grieving unimaginable losses.

Zeke was only 19 years old. He was more than a victim. He was a son,future father, a brother, a grandson, a friend, and a young man with hopes and dreams. He worked at the Kia Manufacturing Plant in West Point, Georgia, where he was building a future for himself. Like many young adults, he had ambitions, talents, and a life filled with potential.

His death changed my life forever.

As his mother, I made a decision that I would not allow this tragedy to be the end of his story. Instead, I chose to transform my pain into purpose. Through James Criminal Justice Consulting, LLC, I am committed to educating, mentoring, and empowering young people to make wise decisions before one moment, one poor choice, or one act of violence changes lives forever.

Our mission is to provide education, life coaching, mentoring, criminal justice awareness, and practical life skills that encourage accountability, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, goal setting, and positive decision-making. We believe that every young person deserves guidance, support, and someone who believes in their potential.

Zeke's story is not shared to bring attention to tragedy. It is shared to remind us that every decision matters, every life has value, and every young person has the ability to choose a different path.

If sharing his story helps even one young man or woman choose peace over violence, stay in school, seek meaningful employment, avoid criminal activity, or seek help during difficult times, then his legacy will continue to make a lasting impact.
